About Us

With the support of the Government of Japan, UNESCO Bangkok together with partner organizations and experts from 11 countries across Asia-Pacific developed the Online Course on Community Learning Centres (CLCs) and Lifelong Learning in Asia and the Pacific with an aim to enhance capacity of government officials, CLC managers and facilitators, educators and students of lifelong learning.

Based on experience and research collected over 20 years, this online course provides practical lessons on adult learning and education and lifelong learning through 11 modules with over 30 animated videos (subtitles available in various languages including Chinese, Japanese, Nepali and Thai) plus 100 related resources on key topics from the concept of lifelong learning to literacy assessment. As of 2021, the online course has reached 1.58 million views in 96 countries and more than 2,000 learners have completed the course with certificates. More than 20,000 CLC managers, facilitators and learners have been trained on the course in Indonesia, Nepal and Thailand.

In 2021, led by Microsoft Thailand, UNESCO Bangkok together with six agencies, namely Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA); Department of Skill Development of the Ministry of Labour; Office of the Non-Formal and Informal Education (ONIE) of the Ministry of Education; Thailand Professional Qualification Institute; Jobs DB Recruitment (Thailand) Ltd.; and the Thai Fund Foundation, implemented the ‘Accelerating Thailand’ project to equip disadvantaged youth and adults affected by the COVID-19 pandemic with digital and other job skills that are fundamental to meeting the demands of today’s fast-evolving labour market. More than 150,000 learners report having participated in all partners’ online platforms, including UNESCO’s ‘LLL-OLC’ platform. Over 100,000 learners received the training through the programme, resulting in greater employment opportunities.
